Kurt Baumann, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Baumann was involved in the PLATO system at the Urbana campus of the University of Illinois, where he also worked on one of the first Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games (MMORPG)—its genesis on the PLATO system—one of the games that influenced EverQuest and others. He was responsible for founding the first ISP in Japan, and also founded InterCon Systems, the leading producer of Internet software on the Macintosh, which sold to PSINet in 1995. He then worked at PSINet building their consumer division, which was then sold to Mindspring. Mr. Baumann then founded a venture capital firm, investing in several startups including WebCal, one of the first calendar apps on the web. Mr. Baumann joined the WebCal to increase the user base and help successfully sell the company to Yahoo. Next he returned to PSINet to spin off their now regenerated consumer division, piecing together parts from 70 companies in 20 countries into one organization called Inter.net. After the dotcom crash, Mr. Baumann, with his business partner, was able to buy Inter.net from PSINet. The now independent company was then positioned for successful acquisition.
Donna Hemmert, Chief Marketing Officer
Ms. Hemmert is an Internet executive with over 15 years experience in marketing, branding and partner development. She is the former CEO of OptiView Technologies, a Web content acceleration company. Earlier, Ms. Hemmert was the VP of Marketing for Roku Technologies, one of the first peer-to-peer software companies. Hemmert was also part of the strategic taskforce for the Netscape Communications NetCenter Portal, working with Netscape executives and drove major partner relationships. Prior to Netscape, As Director of ISPs in the PSINet Wholesale division, she created relationships, defined products, and created and implemented the marketing and sales strategy. An adept leader with 15 years of management experience, Hemmert has flair for creating an enabling culture that encourages her team to consistently produce 'star quality' results. She earned a BS in Business from California State University, Northridge.
Dmitry Dain, Vice President, Engineering
Mr. Dain brings over a decade of focused experience on both landline and wireless computer system communication standards, starting with his time working for a small ISP, World Data Network (WDN). Later Dmitry joined Ascend Communications (purchased in 1999 by Lucent Technologies), and continued his work through subsequent spin-off companies where he worked on 802.11 products and services. After a stint at Texas Instruments--during which he developed their first 802.1x compliant wireless router--Dmitry joined a technology start-up called Shared Spectrum Company, where he led engineering teams on the DARPA XG Program and the development of ProCognitive Radios and Dynamic Spectrum Access software.
Gaige Paulsen, Chief Scientist
Mr. Paulsen has been working in the software business since 1979, and in businesses relating to the Internet since 1985. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he joined Kurt Baumann as CTO at InterCon Systems Corporation (purchased by PSINet in 1995), a provider of TCP/IP software for the Apple Macintosh and worked on the development of products such as TCP/Connect II, NFS/Share, and InterPrint. From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Paulsen served as Director of Software Architecture for Ascend Communications (purchased in 1999 by Lucent Technologies), responsible for guiding the rearchitecture of major software systems. In 2000, Mr. Paulsen helped form and run Inter.net, a consumer ISP spin-off of PSINet. In his capacity as Executive VP and CTO, he managed the global technical direction and participated in guiding decisions at a global scale. Mr. Paulsen left Inter.net in 2002 and founded software development and consulting firm ClueTrust, then in 2004 returned to Inter.net North America, and helped sell the company to Uniserve in 2006.
Jason Wauer, Vice President, Marketing
Mr. Wauer brings over 10 years of corporate marketing experience and success in the hi-tech arena to the 3Sixty management team. Mr. Wauer cut his teeth in Internet marketing during the early days of the Web at Roku Technologies (an early peer-to-peer information sharing system), and then at the Web graphics company OptiView Technologies, steering Internet strategies for each company. After a short stint at the Washington Post Company, Mr. Wauer jumped into the mobile data industry with Sybase, Inc., managing the worldwide brand for the largest global text and picture messaging network, as well as the popular AvantGo mobile advertising platform. Jason has also worked with Verizon Wireless (deploying location-based applications), HookMobile (a mobile social networking company), and Apptix, Inc (a hosted business communications company).
